If the past couple of years have been all about tiny cabins, we reckon over the next few years we’re gonna start seeing some of WA’s old motels be retrofitted into nostalgic-feeling resorts bringing the vibe – just like The Timothèe.

The resort, originally named ‘On Vasse River Resort’, was first unveiled in 1982 by then premier of WA Sir Charles Court, and is situated 1.9km away from the beloved Busselton Jetty in Busselton.

In 2022, new owners Jamie and Alice Brady refurbished the popular spot and after extensive renovations re-opened as The Timothèe Resort, named after a French explorer who washed up on the shores of Busselton in 1801.

Designed as a homage to the retro motel era with modern luxuries, the project was designed in collaboration with local designers. In an effort to improve sustainability, the refurbished resort installed solar panels and removed single use plastic from bathroom amenities.

Guests can enjoy plenty of space and a choice between 33 beautifully crafted rooms designed after the artwork of acclaimed WA oil-painter Mia Laing. The stylish rooms include digital door locks, Australian-made mattresses, luxury bathroom amenities, high speed complimentary wifi, air conditioning/heating and smart TVs.

Room prices start from $190 per night for a Superior King Room to $250 per night for the Deluxe Apartment, and the resort is also offering economy rates for a limited time on rooms that are still awaiting renovation.

One of the resort’s most enticing features is the heated outdoor pool – can you not just picture yourself reclining on white, comfy lounge chairs while sipping pina coladas?

The property also has an on-site restaurant called The Curry Pot, outdoor BBQ area, a tennis court and volleyball net, electric charging stations and guest laundry services.

The resort is about a two-and-a-half hour drive south of Perth and is the perfect spot for families wanting to unwind or couples wanting a romantic, stress-free getaway.
